Austin Country Club is a private golf club in the southern United States, located in Austin, Texas. Established 125 years ago in 1899, the club moved to its third and present site in 1984, a challenging layout designed by noted course architect Pete Dye. [2] [3]
The following is a partial list of golf courses designed by Pete Dye. [1] He is credited with designing more than 200 courses internationally during his lifetime. [2] In 1982, Sports Illustrated wrote that Dye had a reputation for transforming "unpromising" land into picturesque and challenging golf courses, that required a style of play called "target golf".
The golf course at Colonial Country Club was designed by John Bredemus of Texas and Perry Maxwell of Oklahoma. The par-70 course, currently at 7,209 yards (6,592 m), is bordered on the northern edge by the Trinity River (Clear Fork) with the rest of the course surrounded by the neighboring residential area.
With more than 7,300 yards of play, this challenging course also allows shorter three- or six-hold loops, perfect for golf vacations with kids who may not be up for an entire 18-hole round.
