Canyon Lake is a popular stop along the Apache Trail (Arizona State Route 88) from Apache Junction, Arizona, passing Tortilla Flat, Arizona, before reaching Apache Lake and Roosevelt Lake behind Theodore Roosevelt Dam.
SR 88 nears Canyon Lake south of the Mormon Flat Dam and follows a part of the southern shore of Canyon Lake. Apache Trail heads away from the Salt River. It passes through the town of Tortilla Flat, becoming an unpaved dirt trail winding eastward through the Superstition Mountains. SR 88 again turns northeast and nears Apache Lake.

State Route 83 (SR 83) is a scenic state highway in southern Arizona, stretching from its junction with Interstate 10 near Vail south to Parker Canyon Lake.It passes through sparsely populated areas of Pima, Cochise and Santa Cruz Counties, passing through the wine towns of Sonoita and Elgin.
Because there are no trails on the higher parts of the mountains, hiking is only done by advanced hikers. The trails on the lower parts of the mountains are dirt roadways that were created for miners and ranchers. Arizona State Route 88 runs south of the mountains, and the Saguaro Lake (Arizona) can be found north of them. [2] [3]
The Arizona Trail was created by interconnecting preexisting trails. In 1994, the Arizona Trail Association incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to bring volunteers and the necessary resources to create maps, identify water sources, build and maintain the trail, and help raise funds for the trail.
Parker Canyon Lake is located in southeastern Arizona, 28 miles (45 km) southwest of Sierra Vista around the Huachuca Mountains and about 5 miles (8.0 km) north of the border with Mexico. The lake is a reservoir formed by a dam in Parker Canyon in the south end of the Canelo Hills in southwestern Cochise County .
