Official records versus unofficial. The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird holds the official Air Speed Record for a crewed airbreathing jet engine aircraft with a speed of 3,530 km/h (2,190 mph). The record was set on 28 July 1976 by Eldon W. Joersz and George T. Morgan Jr. near Beale Air Force Base, California, USA.
The Comac C919 is a narrow-body airliner developed by Chinese aircraft manufacturer Comac. The development program was launched in 2008. Production began in December 2011, with the first prototype being rolled out on 2 November 2015; the maiden flight took place on 5 May 2017. On 29 September 2022 the C919 received its CAAC type certificate.
Boeing stated that the 747-8I was the world's fastest commercial jet. [140] For the 747-8, Boeing proposed some changes to the interior layout of the aircraft. The -8I's upper deck is lengthened compared to the 747-400. [141] [142] Most noticeable are the curved stairway to the upper deck and a more spacious main passenger entrance. [143]
Gulfstream G650/G700/G800. The Gulfstream G650 is a large business jet produced by Gulfstream Aerospace. [3] The model is designated Gulfstream GVI in its type certificate. [4] The aircraft can be configured to carry from 11 to 18 passengers over a range of 7,000 nautical miles [nmi] (13,000 km; 8,100 mi) at a top speed of Mach 0.925 (530.6 kn ...
The aircraft used reheat (afterburners) only at take-off and to pass through the upper transonic regime to supersonic speeds, between Mach 0.95 and 1.7. [100] Due to jet engines being highly inefficient at low speeds, Concorde burned two tonnes (4,400 lb) of Jet A-1 fuel (almost 2% of the maximum fuel load) taxiing to the runway. [101]
The aircraft was the largest and fastest passenger plane at that time and also had the longest range, at 10,900 km (6,800 mi). It has held the official title of fastest propeller-driven aircraft since 1960. [2] [3] Due to its swept wing and powerplant design, the Tu-114 was able to travel at speeds typical of modern jetliners, 880 km/h (550 mph).
2003 [2] –2021 [1] Introduction date. 25 October 2007 with Singapore Airlines. First flight. 27 April 2005; 19 years ago (2005-04-27) The Airbus A380 is a very large wide-body airliner, developed and produced by Airbus. It is the world's largest passenger airliner and the only full-length double-deck jet airliner.
The following is the list of purpose-built passenger jet airliners. It excludes turboprop and reciprocating engine powered airliners. It also excludes business jets and aircraft designed primarily for the transportation of air cargo.
