As of the 2022–23 school year, the district, comprised of one school, had an enrollment of 153 students and 21.4 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 7.2:1. [1] In the 2016–17 school year, Spring Lake had the 43rd smallest enrollment of any school district in the state, with 197 students. [7]
The district was created in 1923 by the consolidation of several small schools in the surrounding area, and initially named the Spring Lake district. The present name was adopted in 1966, when the Earth Chamber of Commerce agreed to purchase a lighted sign for the school, on the condition that the school name be changed to include Earth. [2]
