Milton Heath and The Nower is a 16-hectare (40-acre) nature reserve west of Dorking in Surrey. It is owned by Mole Valley District Council. This site has woodland, heath and grassland. Birds include green woodpeckers, great spotted woodpeckers, tawny owls, nuthatches and treecreepers. There is access from Westcott Road.
The Dorking Cockerel is a sculpture on Deepdene roundabout in Dorking, Surrey, England. It depicts a male Dorking chicken , which were historically an important part of the town's economy. The 3-metre (10 ft) tall cockerel was sculpted by Peter Parkinson and erected in 2007.
Edward Broughton (1803 – 5 August 1831) was an English convict turned serial killer [1] who was transported to Van Diemen's Land for fourteen years for house-breaking. He escaped from Sarah Island in Macquarie Harbour with four other convicts and he later confessed to murdering three of his companions and resorting to cannibalism.

It has sometimes been suggested that it derives from five-toed (rather than the usual four-toed) chickens brought to Britain by the Romans in the first century AD, [9] [10] but it is not known whether the Romans brought poultry with them, nor if they found five-toed poultry when they arrived.
