St. John's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church located on the southeast corner of SR 1917 and SR 1753 in St. John's, Pitt County, North Carolina.It was built between 1893 and 1895, and is a one-story, gable front frame building.
The Cameron Art Museum, formerly known as St. John's Museum of Art, was established in 1962 in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina in the 1804 Masonic Lodge building. [1] The museum operated successfully in the downtown area for forty years and, eventually, outgrew its space.
The third pastor, Wayne Lindsey, led St. John's purchase of the current church building on South Glenwood Avenue. During this time, the church became active with the RRNLGE and joined the North Carolina chapter of the Council of Churches. [1] Lindsey, who pastored from 1988 to 2001, was an outspoken advocate for LGBT rights in North Carolina. [4]
In 1990, St. John's purchased the Kyle House, a 139-year-old home adjacent to the church which is often used for receptions, classes, and meetings. In 2002, the parish dedicated a building project which connected the original church structure to the Kyle House.
St. Johns Brewing Co., located in a 130-year-old former bank building in the city's downtown, will close its doors at 7 p.m. Sunday, possibly earlier if supplies run out, Holton said.

A building from the 1850s is a contributing structure to Flat Rock Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. [2]

It was built in 1883, and is a one-story, Carpenter Gothic style frame church. It has a steeply pitched gable roof, board and batten exterior walls, lancet windows, and an elaborate bell tower added in 1903. St.
