The main campus is a large four-storied building. A branch of the Sonali Bank has been established for the DPI students' banking facilities, which is located at the northern corner of the main building. A large auditorium is also located inside the main campus for various events and cultural activities.
Ali became the first principal of the college. [13] In 1951, TH Mathewman was appointed the next principal. M. A. Rashid succeeded him in 1954 as the first Bengali principal of the college [16] and held the post until 1960. [17] In 1956, a new course curriculum and the semester system were introduced at the college. [13]

It has a three-story building along with a large semi-pucca building, as well as a library, auditorium, gymnasium, mosque, playground, Shaheed Minar, and Russell Square. [4] There are two residential hostels for students from outside Dhaka. [3] There are two buses for students residing in Dhaka. [3]
On his announcement, the art building of the college was named "Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam Bhavan". Presently the college offers HSC, BA (Pass), Honors in 14 subjects, M.A. first part in 05 subjects and M.A. final part in 14 subjects. At present the number of students studying in 'Government Tolaram College' is about 18000.
The time since 1965 has been called the "Age of Enrichment" of the college. There are 20 degree (pass) courses, 22 Honors courses and 21 Masters courses at BM College. On 10th January 2014, Honors Course in Statistics was launched under the leadership of Professor Biplab Kumar Bhattacharjee in collaboration with Prof. Nasim Haider.
