Hakuba Happoone Winter Resort (白馬八方尾根スキー場, Hakuba Happōone Sukī-jō) is a ski resort located on Mount Karamatsu in Hakuba, Japan. For the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, it hosted the alpine skiing downhill, super giant slalom, and combined slalom events. Happoone receives an average snowfall of 11 metres per season.
The ski resort expands on two mountains, Mt. Maemori and Mt. Nishimori, with 21 trails, and a total trail length of 45.1 kilometres (28 mi) for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Shiga Kogen (志賀高原, Shiga-kōgen) is a ski resort and hiking spot, located in the Jōshin'etsu-kōgen National Park in the highlands of Yamanouchi, Nagano, Japan. In 1980, an area of 13,000 hectares (50 sq mi) was designated a UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Reserve .
The resort is a large ski area that opened over seventy years ago. [ 1 ] Covering 297 hectares (730 acres), the southern part of the resort was used for biathlon competitions at the 1998 Winter Olympics .The Olympic venue consisted of two trails each 4 km (2.5 mi) in length along with a firing range consisting of 30 stations.
