Groton High School, officially Groton Junior/Senior High School, is the only high school in the Groton Central School District. It serves the Village and Town of Groton, Tompkins County, New York, and extending into areas of Cortland and Cayuga Counties. [2] Its previous building is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The regional school district was established in 1967 [8] with the high school, middle school, and one of the elementary schools sharing a common campus on Main St. in Groton. In 1999, the "new gym" at the Main Street campus was renovated and renamed as the Peter Twomey Youth Center (PTYC) to honor a then recently deceased student.
The name is taken from Groton, Massachusetts. [1] The Town of Groton contains a village, also called Groton. The town is in the northeast corner of the county and is northeast of Ithaca. As well as a village, the Town of Groton also includes a former school, Groton High School, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
