After three years of extensive research and development, the first edition of the International Building Code was published in 2000. A new code edition has since been released every three years thereafter. [6] The code was patterned on the three legacy codes previously developed by the organizations that had formed ICC.
The DCS establishes and enforces building codes, licensing code officials and training to protect the health and safety of New Jerseyans, in partnership with the state's municipalities. It includes the Bureau of Housing Inspection.
However, due to ever increasing complexity and cost of developing building regulations, virtually all municipalities in the country have chosen to adopt model codes instead. Formerly the site of BASF until 2004, [1] it is currently home to facilities of L3 Technologies, Bosal USA, Coherent Advanced Crystal Group, Vistar, and Robertet, among others. A Residence Inn by Marriott and Mount Olive station are on the grounds.
