The 2023 Illinois State Fair runs from August 10th through August 20th. The Fairgrounds are open from 7 a.m. to Midnight for the duration of the Fair. The Fair Administration Office is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the fair.
Daily Schedule. Thursday, August 7 - County Fair & Horse Racing Day This is the official start of the fair! Gates open at 7:00 a.m. More than 70 county fair queens and 105 fairs and expositions from across the state are represented at the fair.
Illinois State Fair Grandstand. Admission is NOT included in price of a Grandstand Ticket. Children 3 and older are required to have a ticket to attend any Grandstand concert. Thank you for your interest in the 2025 State Fair Grandstand Line-up.

Special contests at the Illinois State Fair provide an opportunity for fairgoers and groups to participate and win prizes. Marching bands, float builders, baton twirlers, runners, fiddle & banjo players as well as diaper decorations and derbies all have the opportunity to show off their talents.
September 2024. The Department of Agriculture is committed to following all public health guidelines, and the same will be required of all Lessees. All Lessees must sign a COVID-19 Addendum agreeing to comply with all State and public health guidelines at the time of their event.
Competition Results Search. Find out who the winners are in any one of hundreds of competitions going on during the fair. From grand champion livestock to husband caller, winners are posted almost immediately after the judging.
The Twilight Parade. Each year, the Illinois State Fair Twilight Parade marches proudly announcing the ten day annual showcase of Illinois Agriculture and unique entertainment. This year's parade begins on August 8th at 5:30 p.m. Arena.
