The National Society of Pershing Rifles is a US military-oriented honor society for college-level students founded in 1894 as a drill unit at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. It is the oldest continuously operating US college organization dedicated to military drill.
The society was officially recognized by the Air Force in April 1948. It was then the goal of the society to recruit and build more Squadrons to make the society bigger. Within the next year, an additional twenty squadrons were formed across the country. [5]
