It breaks down like this: Windows requires an email certificate in order to let you log onto Active Directory. However, Windows doesn't actually care if that email address is valid, because you're just known by your "subject alternative name" of ###@mil, where ### is the EID number that is on the back of the CAC.
If you're east coast it's https://webmail.east.nmci.navy.mil. If you're west coast then change the east to west. Make sure you select your email certificate when it asks for one. 5. Award.

Have you done this: go to portal.apps.mil > type in fathom@us.navy.mil (doesn’t really matter what you type in) I’ve used fuckthis@us.navy.mil and it worked lmao. Anyway continuing > click your cac cert and it should bring you into your new email. Top of the page will be your new ...
If unable to login via any route, the most common issue is that you’ve been soft-disabled by NMCI (and within that context, most commonly due to having auto-forward of Flank Speed e-mail turned on, which is technically an IA violation).
Once you get to the part about setting up your GFE, stop, because you won't be able to do that on a personal device. After that's set up, just navigate to https://webmail.apps.mil and login with your Flank Speed email address and password you set up. I haven’t tried to get into flank speed on my phone yet.

Yeah it is. It’s legit. I get those kind of emails all the time. I don’t attend college anymore so I don’t read them. Yes it's legit. I get it on my work and personal and can't get them to stop. Thank you everyone for your responses! I can't edit the original post, but it turned out to be legit.
Hello all. Im somewhat new to the reserves and have found that I often have intermittent access to my Navy email from home. I have followed the instructions on militarycac.com. Sometimes it helps, other times a standard "page cannot be displayed" or "turn on TLS 1.0,1.1, 1.2". Which I have. My question is, is this problem on my side.
I believe they're working on getting the accreditation for the Outlook app on your phone. But even then, if you're storing anything Navy related on your phone, you would be subject to Microsofts MDM solution. Which would require you to meet certain security requirements, and also give the Navy access to do things like remote wipe.
