Franklin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi.As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,675. [1] Its county seat is Meadville. [2] The county was formed on December 21, 1809, from portions of Adams County and named for Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. [3]

Lucien is located on the former Mississippi Central Railroad. [2] The community was named for a Mr. Lucien Scott and was once home to five stores and a cotton gin. [3] A post office operated under the name Lucien from 1907 to 1972. [4] Lucien was home to a school until it was consolidated with the school at McCall Creek. [5]
