Thomas & Friends [e] is a British children's television series that aired for 24 series and 584 episodes from 9 October 1984 to 20 January 2021. Based on The Railway Series books by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son Christopher , the series was developed for television by Britt Allcroft .
A new DVD titled "Whale of a Tale and Other Sodor Adventures" (containing 5 episodes) was released exclusively to Walmart and iTunes in the US on 9 June 2015. [1] A 2nd DVD called "Wild Water Rescue and Other Engine Adventures" (containing 1 episode from Series 19) was released a week later on 16 June 2015, exclusively to Target. [2]
Video Collection International released a complete series VHS set in 1999, available as either a single-VHS or double-VHS release. It was soon released on DVD in 2004 as part of the "Classic Collection Boxset" before being released on its own the following year. The 2012 re-release by HIT Entertainment utilised the 2003 restoration of the series.
All of the stories in Series 1 were originally written by the Rev. W.
