The North Shore Knights were a minor professional ice hockey team in the Federal Hockey League based out of Kingsville, Ontario. The Knights played the majority of their home games at the Kingsville Arena Complex as well as a few home games in several other cities in Ontario and Quebec .
The NWOJHL shared many centres with the North Shore Intermediate Hockey League which competed for the Hardy Cup. The most prominent team in the league was the Schreiber North Stars , who would later gain fame as one of the top Junior B teams in Ontario and for competing at early Keystone Cups .

The club was founded August 2002 after a season without a professional ice hockey team in Newcastle. After playing its first three seasons in the British National League, the Vipers joined the Elite Ice Hockey League in the 2005–06 season along with the Edinburgh Capitals; a move which ultimately led to the dissolution of the BNL.
In hindsight, it's clear why Manalapan has emerged as an early favorite to win the Shore Conference and contend the Public A state championship.
They eventually changed names from the Vipers to the Northern Stars. In 2010 the team moved to Whitley Bay Arena which had a capacity of 3,200. The team was sponsored by TDC Waste Management and competed in the English National Hockey League North 1 Division and the NIHL.
