A house painter and decorator is a tradesperson responsible for the painting and decorating of buildings, and is also known as a decorator, or house painter. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The purpose of painting is to improve the appearance of a building and to protect it from damage by water, corrosion, insects and mould.
The three main types of re-entry apprenticeship programs are: "jobs in the prison setting, short term vocation training in prison, and short term assistance in the job search process upon release." [ 12 ] Research done by Uggan in 2000, concluded that these programs have the greatest effects on individuals older than 26 years old. [ 12 ]

The California College of the Arts (CCA) is a private [2] art school in San Francisco, California. It was founded in Berkeley, California in 1907 and moved to a historic estate in Oakland, California in 1922. In 1996, it opened a second campus in San Francisco; in 2022, the Oakland campus was closed and merged into the San Francisco campus.
This master-apprentice system was gradually replaced as the once powerful guilds declined, and the academy became a favored method of training. However, many professional artists continued using students and assistants as they had been in ateliers; sometimes the artist paid the student-assistants, while sometimes they paid the artist fees to learn.
The Society of Decorative Painters offers a certification program for either Certified Decorative Artists (CDA) or Master Decorative Artists (MDA). Artists can be certified in still life, floral or stroke categories. Once a year Master Decorative Artists review anonymous portfolios before selecting an artist for either CDA or MDA certification.
