Beartown Wilderness is a U.S. wilderness area in the Eastern Divide Ranger District of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests.The Wilderness consists of 5,613 acres (22.72 km 2) of land with elevations ranging from 2,400 to 4,800 feet (730 to 1,460 m). [2]
The Lions Den Rd., USFS 1015. 3.1 miles long, and the Yancy Rd., USFS 10281, 1 .5 miles long, give access into the area from October to early January. In 2011 the Lions Den Rd. was listed as "road suitable for high clearance vehicles" only. Honey Spring Cabin Rd., USFS 103a, 0.15 miles long, has been decommissioned. [2]
