programming used key fob here is my story with a question... I bought a '98 CLK which came with 1 defective key fob - door lock remote not working. So I was told by a Mercedes owner to buy a used key fob (remote functioning) for $25 from ebay and get it programmed by the dealer for $10. Purchased this & then dealer said "No way - can't help you."
This was quite the accomplishment and hassle but we are there!! W163 Key Fobs are ready to be made! With the Summer Key Sale they are $245 and after will raise to $350 for 1, and $150 for each additional.

ML500 Key re-synching I have an ML500 and one of the working keys stopped working. I assumed it was flat batteries, replaced them, and found the key didn't work any longer. I then assumed the problem was not just the batteries, and proceeded to purchase a new key from MB. When the key arrived it had no instructions about how to make the thing work.
I tired this already but I think it's for re-programming an old FOB. Your synch was not quite right. Try this. According to the WIS, the sequence must be completed in 10 seconds! 1. Insert the key into ignition and turn to position 2. 2. Remove the key, and press the LOCK button, and hold it pressed while simultaneously pressing the UNLOCK ...
· Turn the ignition key (S2/1) to position 2 and back to position 0 and remove it. · With in 60 seconds, Press and hold the lock-all button. · While the lock-all button is depressed, press the unlock-all button five consecutive times.
There are three parts to the USA SLK key fob. 1) There is a metal “blade” key that must be cut to match the locks in the door, trunk, glove box, and ignition. 2) There is a transponder in the fob that is necessary to start and run the engine.
You need to obtain a replacement form MB directly (valet only now) with your vin# and proof of ownership. From there you can obtain a replacement keyfob from a 3rd party vendor that can duplicate a fob for the remote and chip for the key (in the fob) to use. As many as you like. I believe this is the present suti, in a nutshell.
