Flightline is a bay stallion who was bred in Kentucky by Summer Wind Equine. [2] His sire is Tapit, who was the leading sire in North America in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Tapit is known as a source of stamina, having sired Belmont Stakes winners Tonalist, Creator, Tapwrit and Essential Quality, and also tends to pass on a "strong-willed disposition". [3]
In the Fasig-Tipton Florida sales of 1984, Tasso was sold for $100,000 to Bertram Firestone, but Firestone was reportedly dissatisfied and returned the colt. Tasso was also offered at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sales, but his reserve price of $50,000 was not met. Tasso subsequently raced for Gerald Robbins and was trained by Neil Drysdale. [3]

Seattle Slew (February 15, 1974 – May 7, 2002) was a champion American Thoroughbred racehorse who became the tenth winner of the American Triple Crown (1977). He is one of only two horses to have won the Triple Crown while being undefeated in any previous race; the second was Justify who won the Triple Crown in 2018 and is descended from Seattle Slew.
