Wow. I had thought it was suicide. Because of the secrecy around his death. Thought maybe he had enough and missed his brother and son too much. And with the world in Covid things were kinda bleak. And finally it was the fact that he died on Halloween, I mean what a day for a character like DOOM to die on.
I know a guy who's cousin is a rapper named The Dark Monk, who worked with DOOM. DOOM produced some tracks on his only album from 2012, The Dark Underground, and you can find ads for the track online. Anyway, The Dark Monk and DOOM were roommates in ATL in the mid 90s, right after Subroc died (Del mentions this ATL stint in an interview in 2013).
Alot of doctors and nurses were lost during the worse of covid. Taking short staffed to a whole new level. In the end many hospitals were getting overworked as they were over crowded. And it makes you wonder if cases similar to MF Doom's had turned out different if people gave even an ounce of f**ks during the worse of the pandemic,
And I believe DOOM also committed suicide. I mean, he died on Halloween, that’s not a coincidence. I think that his health problems, the death of his son and Subroc was just too much and it was during the height of Covid so he picked Halloween to do it, perfect for the man of many faces.
The DOOM / Grimm relationship has always been of a mystery to me. The did some awesome collaboration s togheter and DOOM produced some mad beats for MF Grimm but at one point there was rumours of beef between the 2. I would be interested to know if he reacted on MF DOOM death.
RIP MF DOOM, don't care how he went out. Whatever the cause I hope he found his peace, God knows this world can tear down the best of us. Remembrance is Eternal.
You can respect DOOM without discrediting an entire genre. There are so many great rappers now who were inspired by him and possibly owe their careers to him. Guys like Earl Sweatshirt, Denzel Curry, Isaiah Rashad, Saba, Mick Jenkins, and many more have rap in good hands.
