The Ocean Beach People’s Organic Food Market is a food cooperative located at 4765 Voltaire street in the Ocean Beach community of San Diego, California. [1] [2] [3] It was previously called the Ocean Beach People’s Food Store. People’s started as a retail store at 4859 Voltaire Street, selling natural foods and household products.
Located on the community's main street, Newport Avenue, it is a two-block stretch noted for a large concentration of antique and collectible shops, consignment stores, and multi-dealer malls. There are a dozen shops and malls housing more than 200 individual dealers - the largest concentration of antique dealers in San Diego County .
He later became one of the "fathers" of Ocean Beach, laying out streets, promoting sales, and building the Point Loma Railroad in 1909 to connect Ocean Beach with the rest of San Diego. By 1910 there were 100 houses in Ocean Beach, compared to just 18 two years earlier. According to historian Ruth Held, Collier's rail line "made OB possible."
