Jackson Mills is an unincorporated community located within Jackson Township, in Ocean County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. [2] Jackson Mills is located near exit 22 on Interstate 195. It was held in South Orange, New Jersey in the United States and played on outdoor grass courts from 1970 to 1974, and then played on outdoor clay courts from 1975 to 1983. There were men's and women's singles tournaments as well as men's, women's, and mixed doubles.
[6] [11] The club opened its new location, with six dirt courts and 14 grass courts, in August 1917. [12] In 2018, when it was purchased by a group of investors headed by real estate developer Bruce Schonbraun, the club was one of the few in the United States to still retain any grass courts. [13]
The tennis facilities are divided into five groups. Three bands of lawn tennis courts are laid out south of the clubhouse, with a fourth band of hard-surface courts between those and Rumson Road. To the east of these are a fifth group of clay courts. A single court is located just northwest of the clubhouse at the northern edge of the property. [2]

A frequent tennis guest in the 1990s was ex-Governor Brendan Byrne who sat on the Board of the nearby Elizabethtown Water Co. (now part of New Jersey American Water Company). In 2004, the property was sold to the City of Elizabeth Board of Education for construction of a new school, and the Elizabeth Town & Country Club came to an end. [13]
Plainfield Country Club is a private country club and golf course located in Edison in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. It was founded in 1890 as the Hillside Tennis Club . Its golf course was designed in 1916 by golf course designer Donald Ross , and opened BC for play in 1921.
