Tests of airliner aircraft tires have shown that they are able to sustain pressures of maximum 800 psi (55 bar; 5,500 kPa) before bursting. [citation needed] During the tests the tires have to be filled with water, to prevent the test room being blown apart by the energy that would be released by a gas when the tire bursts. [citation needed]

Aircraft tires use nitrogen fill to delay tire rupture on rejected take off events, allowing evacuation time before brake system heat causes an internal tire fire. Fusible plugs in the tire are the primary protection against heat induced pressure excursion. Internal tire fires can kindle at initial stop due to local hot sections of the wheels.
Pneumatic tires also have a much lower rolling resistance than solid tires. Because the internal air pressure acts in all directions, a pneumatic tire is able to "absorb" bumps in the road as it rolls over them without experiencing a reaction force opposite to the direction of travel, as is the case with a solid (or foam-filled) tire. After being fully filled, and during use, there is a space above the fuel, called the ullage, that contains evaporated fuel mixed with air, which contains the oxygen necessary for combustion. Under the right conditions this mixture can ignite. An inerting system replaces the air with a gas that cannot support combustion, such as nitrogen. [1] [2]
Rain tyres have a specially designed structure making them better adapted for their application than any other tyres. However, not all rain tyres obey the same design principles. Certain factors need to be taken into account when designing a good rain tyre, such as the: Speed of the car; Weight of the car; Power of the car; Lifespan of the tyre
