It is located in the unincorporated community of Whitfield, Rankin County, Mississippi, [2] [3] along Mississippi Highway 468. [4] The 350-acre (140 ha) campus is 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Jackson, [5] between Jackson and Brandon. [6] Historically many people referred to the center as "Whitfield," after the community in which it is located. [7]
These include Scenic Routes 32, 304, 315, and 333. They are signed with a blue shield and run loops connecting to the state's normal highways of the same number. For example, Scenic Route 304 runs from I-55 in Hernando along MS 304 west to MS 301, turning south to loop around Arkabutla Lake and connect to MS 306 and I-55 in Coldwater.
The college was established in Louisville, Kentucky, by Humana Inc., in 1989, and was originally known as Galen Health Institutes. [9] [10] The college originally offered only a one-year licensed practical nurse (LPN) program in Louisville, San Antonio, Texas, [11] and St. Petersburg, Florida. [9]
This parkway will connect High Street in Downtown Jackson to Mississippi Highway 475 at the airport. The parkway will be of interstate standards and designated Interstate 755 with access to both Flowood and Pearl. Although approved in 2008 with studies completed and right-of-way obtained, no construction has been done as of 2022.
The highway was Mississippi's first auxiliary Interstate, complete by 1981. Traffic heading to and from the city's western side can use this route. By avoiding Downtown Jackson, it also offers a different route for those traveling from I-55 south to I-20 west and from I-20 east to I-55 north.
