Marvel Super Hero Island is an area at Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure park in Orlando, Florida that is themed after popular Marvel Comics superheroes. The area opened in 1999, ten years prior to Universal competitor the Walt Disney Company 's acquisition of Marvel Entertainment in 2009.
The attraction opened in the Marvel Super Hero Island of the theme park in 2000, a year after the opening of the park. The premise of the attraction is that Magneto , the archenemy of the X-Men , is threatening the world, so Storm and Professor Xavier recruit riders into the "Storm Force Accelatron", a device that they hope will stop Magneto.
All three parks had hosted Marvel-themed seasonal events in the past, [11] [12] [13] which confirmed the demand for the integration of Marvel characters in the parks. Based on three different continents, the Marvel-themed areas will be defined as the "Super Hero campus" of their specific region, that will help guests to become heroes. [ 14 ]
Marvel Super Heroes 4D is an animated 4D film that was launched at Madame Tussauds London on May 31, 2010. [1] On April 26, 2012, an updated version of the film with a different plot was also opened at Madame Tussauds New York.
