The Highland Avenue Methodist Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, is a Gothic Revival-styled church built in 1891 by Milwaukee's first German Methodist congregation. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. [1] [2]

[4] Immanuel congregation was formed in 1870, a merger of First Presbyterian Church and North Presbyterian Church, [5] which were founded in 1837 and 1849. [2] By 1873 the merged congregation was ready to build a new church building. [5]
On June 6, 2006 (06/06/06), vandals spray-painted the church and several shrines with expletives and references to Satan and the Number of the Beast. The cornerstone was laid in 1890 and the church was dedicated in 1892. [1] The convent was built in 1889, before the current church. It is a 2 + 1 ⁄ 2-story building designed by Herman Paul Schnetzky of Milwaukee in simplified Romanesque Revival style. [1] [3]
Milwaukee Protestant Home was established at the church's location in 1884 and Methodist Manor in 1890. [4] The current church building was constructed in 1904 on the corner of Cass Street and Juneau Avenue for First Community Church. The Gothic style church, with its 73-foot-tall (22 m) bell tower, was built using sandstone and limestone.
