Holy Defense cinema (Persian: سینمای دفاع مقدس, romanized: Sīnimā-yi Difā'-i Muqaddas) refers to a genre of Iranian films that deals with various aspects of the Iran-Iraq war of 1980–1988. [1] Although little noticed in the West, the genre has produced more than 200 movies, including some critical and commercial hits.

Identity (Persian: هویت, romanized: Hovīyat) is a 1987 film by the Iranian director Ebrahim Hatamikia. Hatamikia also scripted the film, which starred Jalil Farjad. Set during the Iran-Iraq war, it is an example of Sacred Defense cinema, depicting the Iran–Iraq War's impact on Iran. [1] [2]
The Immigrant [1] (Persian: مهاجر, romanized: Mohājer) is a 1990 Iranian film by the director Ebrahim Hatamikia. The movie is set in the Mesopotamian Marshes during the Iran–Iraq War, and is a fictional look at the deployment of the early generation of Qods Mohajer drone fighters on the battlefield.
