I agree that the statement is incorrect as written. Saccharin appears to be rapidly absorbed (not "digested" as you say, though) into the bloodstream and then excreted mostly unchanged. The point of the statement, that saccharin is safe for diabetics, is correct though. I have modified the article accordingly and added a reference.
