Austin is a city in and the county seat of Mower County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 26,174 at the 2020 census. [3] The town was originally settled along the Cedar River and has two artificial lakes, East Side Lake and Mill Pond. It was named for Austin R. Nichols, the area's first European settler.
East Side Lake is a 40 acres (16.19 ha) reservoir in Austin, Minnesota in western Mower County, [1] which is in the southeast part of the state. It is one of two man-made lakes in Mower County (the other is Lake Louise), which is one of only four counties in Minnesota without a natural lake. The majority of the lake is only 5–6 feet deep.
