This is a list of countries by fruit production in 2020 based on the Food and Agriculture Organization Corporate Statistical Database. The total world fruit production for 2020 was 887,027,376 metric tonnes. In 1961 production was 200 million tonnes.
In 2020, world production of peaches (combined with nectarines for reporting) was 24.6 million tonnes, led by China with 61% of the world total (table). The U.S. state of Georgia is known as the "Peach State" due to its significant production of peaches as early as 1571, [ 61 ] with exports to other states occurring around 1858. [ 62 ]
Peach/nectarine production for the year 2010 (January to December) was reported to be 10 million tonnes from an area of 6,850 square kilometres (2,640 sq mi).
