In the season four finale, Rebekah and Matt kiss while Matt is being held hostage and Rebekah saves his life, taking his place and allowing him to leave in order to attend graduation. Matt then develops some feelings for Rebekah and agrees to spend the summer traveling the world with her, saying that whatever happens on the road stays on the road.
