RMAF Subang (ICAO: WMSA) is a military airport operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (Malay: Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia). It is located on the edge of Shah Alam , a town in Selangor in Peninsular Malaysia and shares runway facilities with the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport .
In 2021, it is reported the US Department of Defense has 'gifted' an export version of Lockheed Martin TPS-77 MMR to Malaysia in order to provide secure interoperable C3I (Command Control Communications and Intelligence) and sensor systems supporting U.S. Joint Air Operations to US Government FMS (Foreign Military Sales) customers.
Initially, the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) relied on the Malaysian Army's Malaysian Military Police Corps, now known as the Royal Military Police Corps, for security at its air bases. However, in 1974, a mortar attack by Malayan Communist Party members on the RMAF Kuala Lumpur Air Base caused some damage.
