Using Hangul exclusively drastically simplifies the language down to the use of the 24 aforementioned letters of the alphabet and allows for everyone to read. For example, before the introduction of Hangul, most outside of Korea's elite class were illiterate. Hangul allowed for these people to learn to read and write in their language.
