The University of Georgia School of Social Work (SSW) is a college within the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, Georgia, United States. The School of Social Work opened in 1964. The School is based in the School of Social Work building, adjacent to the university's North Campus. Courses are also offered on the university's Gwinnett campus.
It was the 5th college to be established at the University of Georgia. In 1919, Mary E. Creswell became both the first home economics graduate and the first female to graduate from the University of Georgia. In 1933, when the School of Home Economics was established, Creswell was appointed as the first dean.
Since then, the School has added two additional departments (international affairs and public administration and policy).
