Maktab Rendah Sains MARA Taiping (مكتب رنده ساينس مارا تايڤيڠ; commonly known as MRSM Taiping) is a premier co-educational boarding school established in 1983 under Education and Training (Secondary) Division of MARA (Majlis Amanah Rakyat, Malay for People's Trust Council).
In 1965, following the end of the British rule in Malaya, the school was given a new name in Malay, 'Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar' (MSAB), after Sultan Sir Abu Bakar of Johor who was the Father of Modern Johore. [2] More local teachers were employed to teach at the school. In 1961, the school badge and uniforms were introduced for the first time.
Al-Muhtadee Billah, the oldest son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Queen Saleha, was born on 17 February 1974, [4] and is honoured with the college's name. [5] As the first in line of succession to the Bruneian throne, he has the title of Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota. [6]
