German Studies Canada or Études Allemandes Canada (GSC) is a professional, not-for-profit learned society promoting German Studies in Canada. The association was founded as the Canadian Association of University Teachers of German (CAUTG) by professors from twelve Canadian Universities in 1962.
The Middlebury Institute of International Studies also offers several non-degree programs, including intensive ESL programs year round; summer intensive language programs, custom language services, English for diplomats programs, short term translation and interpretation courses, and international policy certificate programs.

The first French-language immersion program in Canada, with the target language being taught as an instructional language, started in Quebec in 1965. Immersion and graduate programs are offered in 13 languages during two-, six-, seven-, or eight-week summer sessions. The schools enroll approximately 1,500 students every summer. The pedagogical approach of the programs relies on immersion-based instruction and acquisition.
Self-study programs allow learning without having a teacher present, [1] [2] and the courses can supplement or replace classroom instruction. [3] Universities use self-study programs for less-commonly taught languages, where having professors is not feasible.
The American Association of Teachers of German is a professional organization for teachers of German in the United States and Europe. Teachers may be involved in primary, secondary, or university education. Additionally, retired and student teachers are welcome. AATG sponsors the high school honor society, Delta Epsilon Phi.
