The World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) is the sport governing body responsible for the administration of amputee football associations worldwide. It is responsible for the organization of the Men and Women's Amputee World Cup .
The 2024 Women's Amputee Football World Cup was a WAFF tournament held in Barranquilla, Colombia from 4 to 10 November 2024. [1] Games were held at Romelio Martínez Stadium and San Isidro Stadium. This inaugural amputee football event was the first time that women had competed separately from men. [2] The event was streamed live at YouTube.

The beginnings of Amputee football can be traced to Europe in the early 1900s. [1] The game which is played today, was created by Don Bennett, who was inspired from his accidental kick of a basketball on crutches in 1982. [2] In 1984 the first international amputee football tournament was held in Seattle. [2]

In June 2016, the Greeks participated in the EAFF Amputee Football Weeks project for the first time.
