A climbing anchor equalized using dyneema slings. A sling or runner is an item of climbing equipment consisting of a tied or sewn loop of webbing. These can be wrapped around sections of rock, hitched to other pieces of equipment, or tied directly to a tensioned line using a Prusik style knot. They may be used as anchors, to extend an anchor to ...
Dyneema Composite Fabric. Dyneema Composite Fabric (DCF), also known as Cuben Fiber (CTF3), is a high-performance non-woven composite material used in high-strength, low-weight applications. It is constructed from a thin sheet of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE, "Dyneema") laminated between two sheets of polyester. [1][2]
A sling or Prusik-dedicated sewn loop can also be used. A short piece of rope spliced to form a circle is called a becket. [5] Note that Dyneema/Spectra has a very low melting point and should not be used in Prusik hitches unless the cord or sling is specifically engineered for it (as seen in some sheathed constructions). The length of this ...
After passing for a career-best 4,624 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2023, Tagovailoa, a first-round draft pick in 2020 out of Alabama – where he suffered another concussion – signed a four-year ...

Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE, UHMW) is a subset of the thermoplastic polyethylene. Also known as high-modulus polyethylene (HMPE), it has extremely long chains, with a molecular mass usually between 3.5 and 7.5 million amu. [1] The longer chain serves to transfer load more effectively to the polymer backbone by strengthening ...
"I'll be honest, I'd tell him to retire. It's not worth it," Pierce said. Tagovailoa, who had two diagnosed concussions in the 2022 season, said last spring that he considered retiring as a result ...
The webbing used in the photos in this article is made of Spectra/Dyneema (different brand name, same thing). Spectra slings/webbing should not be used for prussiks. I've been rock climbing for 9 years, if that's not a spectra sling then it sure fooled me. Nylon slings tend to be one color with little to no patterns.
