It seems Generals, specifically, has an issue with DirectX that is caused by a malfunctioning dll in the game folder that was actually left there from testing. If you go into the game folder, and delete the file "dbghelp.dll" there, this problem should be resolved.

The base building is more minimalist, the resources are tight and generated through capture points, units are expensive and few, matches can last hours, the game is much more micro-focused, and there’s a hard limit in army size. 1v1 in CoH is honestly kinda boring, but the big team battles are insane.
