BaldEagle. Jul 25, 2018. #3. Eahlstan said: Stop KGBFOAMing and only filter for 'non sequence stars'. You will eventually run out of fuel, but finding black holes should be no problem. Yep - this. It takes patience but you will find 'fields' with many BH - happy hunting (but remember to refuel!)
Black holes certainly can be dangerous, but to us here on earth black holes dont present an immediate threat. The nearest one is 1600 light years away, far too far to exert any gravitational pull.
Mar 26, 2015. #8. Frank_G said: I bet real ones are far more dangerous. The ones in Elite have no gravitational pull, but they emitt a load of radiation, so getting too close could boil your systems. OP: no, they are not dangerous at all. Black holes in ED are all dormant: these black holes do not emit any radiation except the theoretical ...
Feb 8, 2022. #2. Cryptorm said: Black holes in the game are extremely impressive as this is the only game I’ve seen that bothers with the warping of light. I want to suggest making black holes even more dangerous as in real life black holes are bad news. You should not be able to escape black holes once you get too close.
Well, at least make them appear dangerous with quick win items: 1. When close to the exclusion zone of a black hole, introduce an ominous "Gravitational Sheer" warning, and some shaking of the ship as when scooping, but maybe a little more extreme, but not the bucking bronco of White Dwarf...
Black holes have never been dangerous. As with stars, the ship will drop you out of supercruise instead of letting you get too close. It seems perfectly reasonable that a ship would have safety mechanisms like this. Binary stars used to be interesting when you could be dropped pretty much in the second star on occasions.
With the apocalyptic black hole event, Fortnite’s storytelling has grown increasingly ambitious. The most interesting downtime ever. www.theverge.com. And I ask myself, what is Elite Dangerous, a space game which feature black holes, doing with them? They pose no danger, just some extra heat and a lens effect.
The problem with this is that black holes are the stellar remnants of a supernova - the blast should have affected the nearby companion. The only scenario that is sensible is the black hole was a distant companion that over millions of years spiraled in close to the companion star.
Jun 15, 2016. #6. actually, nearby all black holes are the main star of a system. you can find them by filtering your galaxy map to "non sequence stars". if you simply want to see some black holes, you can go to the known ones. i don't think anybody has enough data about black holes as a second star, and which type of star has the best chance ...
Leadfoot. I'm with Hat on this one, while it looks good, no doubt about that, not so sure a black hole would have clouds and light, they're black holes for a reason. May be an accretion disk under the ship which I would find as fantastic, so I approve this image. I would love it if FD fixed black holes to be (1) dangerous and (2) like this image.
