Blackstaff Tower (previously Arunsun Tower; renamed by Khelben in 1322 DR) is the home of Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun in Waterdeep. The foreboding structure is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Waterdeep's Castle Ward. It was also the home of his apprentices and his consort Laeral Silverhand. The tower is protected against scrying magic.
Blackstaff Tower has a variety of secret doors scattered through its hallowed halls. With a few rare exceptions, they all have the following traits. Hidden: Intelligence (Search) DC 20. These doors are cunningly hidden. The downside of their concealed nature is that it also requires an Intelligence (DC 10) test upon entering an area to remember ...
I was looking for a good map of Blackstaff Tower, and the best I found was this: Blackstaff Tower Description - OakthorneWiki. While it provides a great amount of written detail, the actual map lacks the amount of vibrant detail that I've come to appreciate while playing on Roll20.

Timestop, Mass Polymorph, Gate, Prismatic Wall, etc. Lair Actions are typically very powerful, so you could get super creative with it if you wanted to. You could make sections of the tower move and rearrange. All the surfaces could become dangerous to touch by hostile creatures.

Blackstaff tower is indeed a school, the kind where they choose the students, you can't just register. Also noteworthy that not all the pupils of Blackstaff became good guys. Off the top of my head one became a Thavian Zulkir of incredible cruelty, one became a prominent member of the Shadow Thieves, and one became a lich and member of the ...
It’s a magical tower in my game, old and with shifting architecture, a pocket dimension or two. But this is lovely and I might borrow it for one floor. :) I love this, but what is weird to me is that while it does match some of the things I see online...the description of the outside of the building is kind of strange:
