PDK International (also known as PDK or Phi Delta Kappa International) is an international professional organization for educators. It was founded on January 24, 1906, at Indiana University. The fraternity administers the collegiate honor society Pi Lambda Theta and the career and technical student organization Educators Rising.
Phi Delta was created from the combination of two local sororities: Sigma Epsilon (New York University, 1919) and Alpha Delta Omicron (New York State Teachers College at Albany). These two groups came together to form Phi Delta on 19 January 1927. (October 25, 1919, the founding date of the eldest unit was celebrated as the official founding date).
The Alpha Phi Delta motto is "Faciamus!" The Alpha Phi Delta badge is a shield with a black background bisected by a gold key. Across the shield and key is a white scroll and the letters ΑΦΔ. [5] The shield is rimmed with gold and pearls, with a diamond star above its top and flaming torch at an angle behind the shield. [5]

At the top of the shield is the center portion of the key with the Greek letters Α and Ε. [2] Alpha Epsilon's colors are black and gold. Its badge is a key, etched in the back with the name of the owner, the name of the chapter, and the year of the member's initiation. The motto of the society is not public.

Phi Alpha Chi had its origin as The Tanewah Club in 1919 at Berkeley. In 1926, the Tanewah Club first adopted Greek letters, reorganizing as the Alpha chapter of Phi Alpha Chi. Delta Zeta's history (1983) recorded that Sigma Phi Beta absorbed Phi Alpha Chi before combining five years later under the Phi Omega Pi banner in 1933 .
