Ipomoea quamoclit, commonly known as cypress vine, cypress vine morning glory, cardinal creeper, cardinal vine, star glory, star of Bethlehem or hummingbird vine, is a species of vine in the family Convolvulaceae native to tropical regions of the Americas and naturalized elsewhere in the tropics.
Campsis radicans, the trumpet vine, [4] yellow trumpet vine, [5] or trumpet creeper [4] (also known in North America as cow-itch vine [6] or hummingbird vine [7]), is a species of flowering plant in the trumpet vine family Bignoniaceae, native to eastern North America, and naturalized elsewhere.
Monarda plants thrive in sun and moist but well-drained soil. Plants growing in partial shade spread horizontally and produce fewer flowers. Monarda are used in beds and borders to attract hummingbirds, pollinating insects, and insects that control garden pests.
It forms an interesting shrub with flowers that hummingbirds like. It prefers to have its leaves in full sun, but likes its roots in the shade. This species is tolerant of most soils, but requires excellent drainage. It needs fast draining soil of pH 6–7, in USDA zones 7–10. [18] This plant is best suited on north-facing, dry rocky slopes.
