    Kiwi Polish simply alerted the average Joe to the existence of the New Zealand bird, and the connection more likely ended there. To imagine that "Kiwis" are named for the polish itself, rather than directly for the New Zealand bird (whose image was popularized by the polish), seems just a tad far-fetched.
