"Who Put the Bomp (in the Bomp, Bomp, Bomp)" is a doo-wop style novelty song from 1961 by the American songwriter Barry Mann, who wrote it with Gerry Goffin.
The same year, Mann himself reached the Top 40 as a performer with a novelty song co-written with Gerry Goffin, "Who Put the Bomp", [5] which parodied the nonsense words of the then-popular doo-wop genre. [3] [6]
Who Put the Bomp was a rock music fanzine edited and published by Greg Shaw from 1970 to 1979. [1] [2] Its name came from the 1961 hit doo-wop song by Barry Mann, "Who Put the Bomp". Later, the name was shortened to Bomp! Bomp!, and extended by Shaw to the record label Bomp! Records, which he headed until his death in 2004. [3] [4]

Barry Mann co-wrote a song called "Who Put the Bomp (in the Bomp, Bomp, Bomp)" in 1961, in which he sings about his girl falling in love with him after listening to some doo-wop style songs with their recognizable nonsense lyrics. In the song he asks the question, who put the ram in the 'Rama-Lama-Ding-Dong'.
He sang two songs with the trio: "California Dreamin'" and "Who Put the Bomp?" One of his last appearances was in the Canadian TV series Trailer Park Boys, Season 7 Episode 10 (season finale) as FBI Special Agent Ryan Shockneck. Filming was completed just shortly before his death in early 2007 and the end credits dedicate the episode to him.
