It fires a high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead and can penetrate explosive reactive armour. The Javelin has several modes of flight including direct and an overfly-top-attack mode in which the missile arcs high then flies down onto the top of the target, thus getting around the heavy front armour of modern tanks. The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) entered safe mode on August 26, 2009 for the second incident in a month, the fourth in 2009 and the eighth since launch in 2005. [9] [10] The spacecraft was kept in safe mode until December 8, 2009. [11] Kepler entered safe mode on June 15 and again on July 3, 2009. Both cases were triggered by an on-board ...
Elamipretide (also known as SS-31, , MTP-131 and Bendavia) [1] [2] is a small mitochondrially-targeted tetrapeptide (D-Arg-dimethylTyr-Lys-Phe-NH 2) that appears to reduce the production of toxic reactive oxygen species and stabilize cardiolipin.
Joint IED Neutralizer (JIN): In 2005, Ionatron attempted to develop an anti IED device that would "zap" IEDs from a distance by using lasers to ionize the air and allow man-made lightning to shoot towards the devices detonating them at a safe distance. By using femtosecond lasers light pulses that last less than a ten-trillionth of a second JIN ...

Non-explosive reactive armour (NxRA), also known as non-energetic reactive armor (NERA), is a type of vehicle armor used by modern main battle tanks and heavy infantry fighting vehicles. NERA advantages over explosive reactive armor (ERA) are its inexpensiveness, multi-hit capability, [ 1 ] and ease of integration onto armored vehicles due to ...
Passive nuclear safety is a design approach for safety features, implemented in a nuclear reactor, that does not require any active intervention on the part of the operator or electrical/electronic feedback in order to bring the reactor to a safe shutdown state, in the event of a particular type of emergency (usually overheating resulting from a loss of coolant or loss of coolant flow).
