University of Rwanda (Kinyarwanda: Kaminuza y'u Rwanda, French: Université du Rwanda) is a public collegiate, multi campus university based in Kigali, Rwanda.Formed in 2013 through the merger of previously independent education institutions, the University of Rwanda is the largest education institution in Rwanda.

The campus is composed of 64 buildings, including the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC, formerly known as AUH – American University Hospital) [7] (420 beds), four libraries, three museums and seven dormitories. Almost one-fifth of AUB's students attended secondary school or university outside Lebanon before coming to AUB.
The Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs (IFI) is located at the American University of Beirut (AUB). Kayihura is the former Acting Principal of the University of Rwanda's College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS). He served as Rector of the Institute for Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) from 2016 to 2017. In addition, He served as the dean of the National University of Rwanda's (UR) faculty of law (2007-2009). [5] [6]
It was founded in 2003 as Université Internationale au Rwanda, in a ceremony attended by President Paul Kagame. [5]It was given the power to award degrees in 2010. [5]In September 2019, it was reported that the university had started a research collaboration with Bingen Technical University of Applied Sciences in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
