The Strategic Studies Program was established in 1981. It is part of the Department of National Defence's former nationwide network of Security and Defence Forum (SDF) research Centres, a network of Centres specializing in defence and security studies across Canada. [2] It was renamed the Centre for Military and Strategic Studies in 1999.
