The British National Hill Climb Championship is a hill climbing competition held annually by Cycling Time Trials with the location varying year on year. The first edition was in 1944 and it has been won by some of the best all-round British cyclists, such as Brian Robinson , Paul Curran , Malcolm Elliot , Chris Boardman and Jeff Williams .

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, held in Colorado Springs, Colorado is the world's premier Hill Climb Race. This event has been entered by many internationally renowned drivers, Indy 500 champions, and multiple world rally champions. The 12.4-mile (20.0 km) course finishes at a height of 14,100 feet (4,300 m) after navigating 156 turns.
Pullar won the British National Hill Climb Championships in 2012. Pullar was part of the Scottish national team during the 2014 Commonwealth Games [4] where he competed in the Men’s Road Race alongside David Millar, Evan Oliphant and Andrew Fenn, although he failed to finish in a race of attrition with only twelve finishers. The 11th and 12th-placed drivers, and any who fail to complete the course, receive no points. An extra point is given to any driver in the run-off who breaks the outright hill record as it stood at the beginning of the day. As of 2022 there are 30 runoffs, but drivers can only count their 24 best results towards their final points total.
The event includes categories for all levels of racing and encourages riders of all abilities. Between six hundred and a thousand riders compete each year in a number of categories.
